The merger of the Fashion Design Council of India and Lakmé Fashion Week, which is hosted by Lakmé and RISE Worldwide, according to Sunil Sethi, "chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India", is a joint initiative that aims to open up new avenues (formerly IMG Reliance).
The powerhouses announced on Monday, March 1, 2021, that they will organize a joint fashion week for the very first time in 15 years, after their last collaboration. The event will take place from March 16 to 21, 2021, and will include both physical and virtual activities.

Is it possible for a virtual counterpart to be the same? Though digital showcases have assisted in keeping designer companies in the public eye, nothing compares on ground experience. Certain aspects of how the industry communicates with customers and how consumers consume knowledge and content will, however, become normal.

The display in 2021 will serve as a forum to celebrate crafts and designers, including upcoming talent via Lakmé Fashion Week's GenNext programme for aspiring designers and modelling skill via FDCI's #GetNoticed Model Hunt, similar to its physical counterpart. Both FDCI and LFW will continue to provide buyer programmes, which were introduced last season.

Designers can use newer forms of media to express the ideas that influence their normal approach to producing clothes and showing their designs, and the phygital format attracts thousands of viewers well beyond the conventional attendees.
The schedule includes designers such as Samant Chauhan, Suneet Varma, S&N by Shantanu and Nikhil, Pankaj & Nidhi, Payal Pratap, Geisha Designs, Bloni, Nitin Bal Chauhan, and Anamika Khanna, a couturier, will perform first.
Her new collection launch, 'Timeless The World,' is set to debut, and she is known for her vivid explorations of thread work and lighter-than-air silhouettes. Khanna says of the collection and forthcoming virtual exhibition, "It's a pleasure to do the launching ceremony for FDCI x LFW's joint fashion week."
Anamika mentioned, "To say the very least, the last year 2020 has been challenging, and I am grateful for the opportunity to present my work along with the creative individuals with whom I collaborate on this forum.
