It is now the time of celebrating emotions while exchanging gifts, greetings and beautiful moments with your loved ones.
Celebrated on the 14th of February, the Valentine's Day is preceded by a whole week dedicated to love. It is the time to make the loved ones feel special and express to them about your feelings.
There are numerous stories behind how the most romantic day of the year came into existence. When we look for the Valentine’s Day history it seems like everyone has their own version of the story to tell.
When we fact-checked about the origins of the day, we found that the historic Valentine's Day goes back to the period of 3rd century.
Legend has it that the popular priest named Saint Valentine (or Valentinus) was executed on this day. He was a Roman catholic, and hence the place from where this day originated is Rome.
As per the written texts and the information passed through generations, the story is of the time when the emperor named Claudius II Gothicus was ruling the empire of Rome.
At that time, St. Valentine was a simple priest who served the Roman nation. Claudius was of the view that the single men served better to the country with greater determination and zeal, as compared to the married men who lacked enthusiasm and were more emotional.
Therefore, to make the Roman Empire stronger than the rest, Claudius had to prevent single and young men, especially soldiers, from marrying women. This led a chaos in the nation as severe restrictions were implemented for the common people who wanted to marry.
St. Valentine, who disbelieved it immensely, wanted to support his country’s people in some way. So he took a step forward in helping out the young men and women who were in love by marrying them secretly. But as with the every other secret, this one too couldn’t be hidden for long and it eventually came out. As a result, St. Valentine had to come forward and was imprisoned and sentenced to death for his good deeds.
Even in the prison St. Valentine didn’t give up on his fellow prisoners and continued to support and help them. Later on, he fell in love with his fellow prisoner’s daughter and wanted to confess his love and feelings to her. Hence, as an expression of his love, he wrote a letter to her signing “your valentine” in his last letter to her before his execution, which was dated on 14th February.
After the death of St. Valentine, a feast was thrown by a pope as a celebration of his martyr on 14th February and it is since then that it became a tradition to celebrate the feeling of love every year on the 14th February.
Celebrating the Valentine’s Day with the candle-lights and exchanging gifts is something that’s much overrated, and while celebrating the Valentine’s Day in 2020 you must consider making it better than the last one. It is easier to say something like that but in actuality it will require you to plan out everything well in advance. Here are a few of the amazing Valentine’s Day celebration ideas that’ll really come in handy.
One of the best Valentine’s Day Idea for Her is to make her feel special. It is always better to give your partner some rest from the kitchen and take up the responsibility of cooking them a great meal. And, by meal we mean a full 3-course meal that he/she would really appreciate.(No guys, Maggi is not considered a meal. Sorry!)
Okay, if cooking is something that’s not your forte, then going on a date with a partner and making them feel special is something that can never grow old. Everyone loves surprises and to plan a great surprise on the Valentine’s Day in 2020, you’ll need to make all the reservations well in advance.(If you think that you have enough time to do reservations; Trust me, you don’t!)
Okay if the above two ideas are something that you think won’t impress your partner, then planning out a trip outdoors will be a great option too. You’ll have endless options, from going on a long drive to going for an adventure trek through the snow-clad mountains.(A great Valentine’s Day Idea for Him if he is an adrenaline junkie!)
Not impressed with any of the above options? Then one thing that instantaneously excites every person on this Earth is ‘Shopping’. This is probably the best Valentine’s Day idea for Her as she will definitely love to travel around in the markets hand-in-hand with you. Shop for the goodies that catches your eyes and have the most delicious street food.(No matter if your partner is away for some reason, or even if you are single; Showing yourself some love is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day, because you deserve it!)
Going back and keeping yourself aligned to the centuries old customs of exchanging gifts on Valentine’s Day with your partner is something that will always be a pleasant move. If you are feeling out of options in deciding for the gifts that will be perfect to give to your partner on this Valentine’s Day, then here is a list of few that you can always consider.
