Deepali 1.0 May 01,2024With a very heavy heart I must say, that Neha Chauhan , the supposedly Wedding Planner totally let us down at the wedding of my daughter Kavya. We totally relied on her as a planner but I the mother of the bride was short of having a break down at the wedding as whatever Neha Chauhan the owner of the Wedding / Event planning company, Back to Culture, from Delhi, was supposed to do, failed miserably. It has been a month, ( 28th March 2024) since my daughter got married at Hotel Chunda Palace, Udaipur. The venue was great, the staff was great but the wedding planner,, Neha, based in Delhi, who was specially flown in from Delhi at our expense, who was hired a year ago with initial non refundable deposit, totally let us down. Based on some award she had got, which gave us or rather my daughter, the confidence to hire her for her wedding, but that was the biggest mistake. All that glitters is not gold. Maybe some planner locally would have done the job without giving us a harrowing experience. To begin with, the day I met her for the first time, last June 2023, she was a charmer and by her sweet talk I was totally taken in and she did give me the total confidence that she can handle the full responsibility as a wedding planner. BUT clearly she was just a smooth operator who got our trust and confidence but did not deliver at all, at the wedding. She is just a decorator and nothing more than that. We live in Bangalore and we completely depended on her to plan everything..But there was no planning whatsoever. On the day of the wedding I was running around like a headless chicken in different directions, arranging for things. It truly was a nightmare. If you look at the videos, the decor for Sangeet and haldi was very good. I will not take that away from Neha. But the problem was she was never transparent with us right from the very beginning. We were not aware that she was wearing 2 hats...one of the decorator and one of the planner. She also demanded 99%of the money much before the wedding and so we were held ranson after paying a big chunk of the money to her. Just a few weeks before the wedding, Neha almost threatened to walk out of the deal if she was not immediately paid almost the full amount. This started when a few weeks before the wedding, when we had paid major part of the money (about 70%) to her, to divulge and give us the names and phone numbers of all the vendors she was dealing with, she refused to do so till we paid up the balance of the money. Literally told us that if we donot pay the balance, she would not take up the job and we would loose the deposit. My daughter actually got hysterical because she and her fiance had paid up a big part from their hard earned money, which they had saved just for the wedding. I made a few calls to Neha and very politely told her not to threaten to walk away from the deal of managing the event just a few weeks especially after taking a large amount of money which we were threatened that we could loose the money. This we are talking about in lakhs. Only after paying most of the money to Neha, did we realise that there was no outside vendor / decorator. It was her doing both. So during the wedding Neha , the seemingly one woman army with no team to back her, contrary to what she had promised us, was totally consumed by the decoration and I think she completely forgot that she was the planner too. Nothing was coordinated, neither the music , nor the things for the wedding. I had couriered stuff from Bangalore to Udaipur. Most of the things were in packages, when the baraat arrived and each of our guests were removing it from the couriered packages. Not one person was dedicated to the bride and groom to ask what they needed. NO time keeper, NO coordination with the DJ, NO. coordination with the priest, asking him what he wanted. I had couriered each and every thing based on what the priest wanted but even the packages weren't opened. If one looks at the videos, it looks great from the outside, but we as parents know it was a Disaster behind the scenes. One usually hires an event planner after paying sooo much money, is so that the families of the bride and groom can be relaxed and can have a good time. It was FAR from it. Like I said, it was a NIGHTMARE. At least if we all knew we had to do all the things which we ended up organising last minute, we would have planned for it. But depending on a planner who completely lets you down and then having to run helter shelter for stuff and organising things yourself on the day of the wedding is definitely not my idea of an Event Planner. Some tips for all of you who are looking for a wedding planner Rule No 1. - Never pay most of the money upfront as there is Zero accountability and they can hold you to ransom as Neha Chauhan from Back to Culture did to us. Rule no 2 - Never have an event planner double up as a decorator too which Neha did in our case, which we were not aware of from the beginning. Had I known it, I would not have agreed to it. A planner cannot get involved and spend 100%of the time in decoration and leave the planning part to the bride and groom's family after taking the money for it. All I can say is that by god's grace and blessings of the elders, the wedding on the outside went off well. Meaning the guests had a good time at the gorgeous venue, the food provided by the hotel was great but on the OPERATIONAL front , the PLANNING front and the EXECUTION front, Neha Chauhan FAILED big time. I would not recommend her to anybody. I think it is high time Neha realises that wedding planning is not her cup of tea and may be plan on a career change and spare the bride and groom's family from a total heart ache and a nightmare experience, at the most important event in their lives. I am a very positive person, very forgiving person, and very easy to please kindly of a person who goes with the flow and is not at all nit picking nor a perfectionist. But the event planning job given to Neha Chauhan has left a very bad taste in all out mouths. After paying so much, even after a month, when I think of all the things that went wrong behind the scenes, which was totally Neha's responsibility, I feel really sad even today and wished we had not hired Neha Chauhan as our Event Planner. It gave all of us a big heartache including the bride and groom. I had to pen this down for the benefit of those who are looking for an Event Planner. Wanted to give an honest opinion do that NO ONE goes through what we went through, including the bride and groom who feels the Even planner totally messed up the whole experience of them enjoying the wedding and having a great time..???
