The queen of Cannes returned, and she brought royalty with her. Aishwarya Rai made her grand appearance in an ivory-hued Banarasi Saree  by famous Indian designer Manish Malhotra . It was a hand- woven saree with rare kadwa technique from Varanasi, where each motif is individually crafted by hands. The saree featured rose gold & silver brocade work and silver zari embroidery. Aishwarya paired the saree with heirloom jewellery that featured Mozambique rubies & uncut diamonds. But the most important thing that took our attention was her ‘Sindoor’ which she flaunted at the international stage.

Alia Bhatt in Gucci Saree

While closing her Cannes appearance with a sartorial bang, Alia Bhatt made history by wearing the first ever saree designed by Gucci, specially for her. The no-pleat beautiful drape, infused with shimmering Swarovski crystals and adorned with the Gucci’s signature monogram, was a bold reinterpretation of traditional Indian wear with a touch of sophistication. The couture piece featured a plunging neckline blouse, a straight skirt and a duppatta-like drape that trailed behind her. This time her natural glam was accompanied by kohl-rimmed eyes and waves that fell behind her shoulders. A diamond tennis necklace tied her look together beautifully.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Canne Looks

Tarun Tahiliani’s custom saree

Jahnvi Kapoor’s  first appearance on the red carpet was a custom-made skirt and corset top by Tarun Tahiliani, which was crafted from real tissue woven in Benaras. The iridescent pink fabric was wrapped around like a dupatta- drape, resembling a contemporary sari. Famous celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor topped off the look with strings of pearls. Tarun Tahiliani said, "The ensemble is brought to life with a hand-crushed technique that lends depth and texture, while a signature TT drape adds a touch of sculptural fluidity.

Dress by Anamika Khanna

For the premiere screening of her movie Homebound, Jahnvi Kapoor arrived in the morning wearing a beautiful custom Anamika Khanna dress. The dress featured a gold embroidered open-back top with a mint green skirt. Draped over the open back of the dress was a necklace that had a combination of archival traditional Indian jewels mixed with custom jade and jadao creations. Janhavi finished her look with mint green accented earrings and chunky bracelets.

Karan Johar In Manish Malhotra Sherwani

Karan Johar turned heads as one of the best-dressed men at Cannes 2025. He proved that menswear can be just as glamorous and striking as women’s gowns. His most standout look, and one of our favorites, came from designer Manish Malhotra. It featured a cropped sherwani adorned with intricate zardozi thread work, brocade detailing, and Renaissance-inspired ruffle cuffs. The outfit was layered with a dramatic high-collar shirt that added flair. The overall look was rich in detail but remained tasteful. What truly elevated his appearance was a stunning collection of brooches. These featured over 14 carats of emeralds, all embedded in 18k gold.

Ishaan Khatter in Gaurav Gupta's bandhgala

Making his grand Cannes Film Festival 2025 debut, The Royals actor, ‘ Ishaan Khatter’ stepped away from the boring tux and dived into a couture moment by Gaurav Gupta. He wore a bordeaux velvet bandhgala jacket, reimagined by Gupta’s sculptural style which had zardozi Celtic knot embroidery. Ishaan paired it with a draped silk shirt and flared velvet trousers. The whole look offered a contemporary take on traditional Indian formal-wear.

Nitanshi Goel in Jade Gown

Laapataa Ladies lead actress ,Nitanshi Goel made her Cannes debut this year in a custom Jade gown. Later on Nitanshi caught everyone’s attention with her unique hairdo. Dressed in a pink-and white beautiful lehenga, she accessorized her hair with pearl strings bearing which framed portraits of legendary actresses like  Madhubala, Rekha, Sridevi, Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Waheeda Rehman and Nutan. It was her tribute to the most legendary female artists of Indian cinema.

Aditi Hydari in Rahul Mishra

Aditi Rao Hydari walked the red carpet at the 78th Cannes Film Festival 2025 in a stunning floor-length bodycon gown. The look came from Rahul Mishra’s Aura Collection. The ombré gown reflected the beauty of Indian craftsmanship. It was hand-embroidered at Rahul Mishra Atelier using intricate techniques. The fabric included resham threads, sequins, and salli—glass bugle beads that added a striking shimmer. This dress made its debut at Paris Haute Couture Week Fall 2024. The collection took inspiration from the universe and cosmic energy. The bodice began in deep midnight black, faded into shimmering silver, and ended in a bold ivory. The gradient created a visual story of celestial transformation.
