As you must be aware, people celebrate Navratri twice a year: once in the month of March-April, called Chaitra Navratri, and again in the month of September-October, known as Sharada Navratri or the most celebrated Navratri. During Chaitra Navratri, people honor Maa Durga's nine forms, or Navadurga, which symbolize the victory of good over evil. Chaitra Navratri 2025 begins from 30th March to 7th April. People derive the name of Chaitra Navratri from the month Chaitra, referring to the season of spring, and they also call it Vasanta Navratri.

According to Drik Panchang, Ghatasthapana is on Sunday March 30, 2025. On the first day you worship Maa Shailputri and establish Kalash. You need to follow proper ritual of setting up the kalash. People fill a clay or brass urn with water and place it on top of the barley-sown soil, which contains rice, grass, betel nut, and money. They wrap a coconut with red cloth, tie it with a sacred thread, and place it on top of the urn with mango leaves and a lid. They tie a sacred thread, make a Swastika sign on it, and place it in the home temple or near Maa Durga’s idol. Make sure that all the materials for Kalash Sthapana are available as well as Maa Durga's sixteen adornments. Remember that all the custom and rituals of Chaitra Navratri are same as Shardiya Navratri.

According to Hindu legends and texts, Goddess Durga defeated the demon king Mahishasura who was causing havoc on the earth. The battle lasted for nine days, where Maa Durga unleashed her nine different forms and on the final tenth day, Maa durga defeated the demon king Mahishasura. Chaitra Navratri honors the victory of Maa Durga over the demon king Mahishasura and it is the time of rebirth and faith.
